4-H is all about making the best better, this includes improving the lives of our members, neighborhood, regional environment, state, nation and world.
Our Leaders:
Our leaders typically are returning adult members who were past youth members during their childhood. They understand the working processes and values that make the California 4-H Youth Development Program so great. Part of the University of California and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) the California 4-H Youth Development Program has become the largest volunteer based system of learning for citizenship, leadership and life skills for youth in America.
Members:
Currently in California there are about 130,000 active 4-H youth members between the ages of 5-19 supported by over 20,000 adult volunteer leaders.
Impact on Youth:
4-H has a huge impact on youth development and allows participants to share and exchange valuable information and resources. National studies at Virginia Tech show that youth that get involved in
4-H can greatly improve their chances of leading a successful life. 4-H offers research-based, experiential programs for diverse youth, engaging youth in their communities and help them develop relationships with caring adults. We deliver programs through a wide range of delivery modes, including after-school, in-school, community and regional club.
